The van build was inspired by the need for a mobile base camp, a space we could call our own no matter where the adventure led us.
The vision was to craft a comfortable and functional space that would offer solace during our journeys—
whether we found ourselves at a campsite at the foot of a trail, parked roadside while capturing a lengthy timelapse or anywhere inbetween.
The van allowed us to embrace spontaneity and savor the beauty of being on the go.
In 2015 I purchased a 2003 Ford E250. The van came with a modest interior build.
We initially used the van as it was, gradually adding exterior features to meet our specific needs.
After carefully evaluating how we wanted the interior to function, I stripped everything down and started fresh.
My primary objective was to maximize space by maintaining a sleek and slim design.
Additionally, I aimed to create a bright atmosphere inside the van, ensuring that it felt as open and spacious as possible.
It can get dirty out there, which is why rear door was equipped with a sink.
A seamless flow of water comes from a Dometic jug through the rechargeable faucet.
For a complete body-cleaning experience, the van features a solar shower mounted on the roof rack.
The van is no stranger to gravel roads.
A Decked drawer system was the obvious choice when sourcing a durable and reliable bed platform.
Coupled with a Dually mattress from Hest, the setup guarantees a restful night’s sleep no matter where the journey takes us.
On the electrical side, the interior is lit with six recessed led lights and the space is vented with a Maxxfan.
For the power source, a supplementary deep cycle battery was added to the frame rail of the vehicle
in order to keep the starter battery from draining during long outings.
A Renogy DC-DC controller allows the additional house battery to regenerate charge from both the vehicle alternator
as well as the 100W solar panel on the roof.
With the van, the open road becomes an opportunity for unforgettable memories,
where the stars aren't just a backdrop—they're an integral part of the experience.
